Golden Gate

Client: Eric and Marilou Mintalar-Hopkins, MN

Project Details: While searching for that perfect San Francisco print, Eric and Marilou Mintalar contacted Kahler Photo about creating a print that would accent their newly remodeled bedroom.  Since Marilou was raised in the lower Sunset Beach area of San Francisco they wanted a print that captured one of the iconic landmarks of the city.  Instead of a traditional color or black and white image they were looking for a print that would have more eye-popping colors.

Design Solution: After going through our California stock images, the Mintalar’s chose an image shot on China Beach near the Golden Gate bridge.  Using this selected image file, Danny Kahler created a number color abstracted options for the Mintalar’s to review.  Theses abstracted image options contained matching colors from the walls, floors, tile and drapery in their master bedroom.  Rather than have the print match too much of the surrounding interior finishes the Mintalar’s chose to have the print correlate with certain blue tones found in the room.  They also wanted the sky to range in color from yellow to orange and the bridge to remain red.  Through color replacements and saturation adjustments, Danny was able to come up with an image that satisfied the criteria and the client.

The image was then printed on canvas and stretched with a gallery-wrap finish.  This allowed the print to be installed unframed for a clean look to fit the styling of the interior space.

Client response:

“We just absolutely love the artwork.  Danny did a fantastic job with our entire room.” — Marilou Mintalar, client.
