Jake’s Restaurant – Bloomington, MN

Interior Designer: Lisa Van Der Pol, Ste Marie Design, St. Paul, MN

Project: Jake’s Restaurant-Bloomington, MN

The client wanted to use artwork comprised of local historical images for their newly remodeled restaurant. Lisa, the interior designer, sent us historical images which she selected from the Minnesota Historical Society’s files.

Rather than printing the historical images in black and white, we proposed color abstracting the images. We replaced the black and white tones with colors that coordinated with the yellow and red interior finishes of the restaurant space. After Lisa looked through many different color mixed images, she selected the photographic art pieces that worked best with the other interior finishes.

The images were printed on a matte art paper and then sent to the frame shop to be fitted with a contemporary black frame.  Once the framing was completed, we installed the finished pieces in the restaurant.
